Working Mothers

BY The Conversation Team

As a guest on The Conversation, Donna Karan spoke with Amanda about having a working mother and the effect it had on her as a child. The issue of balancing work with parenthood is a common topic of discussion and debate.  Gender often plays into the conversation as well, considering men are rarely shown as having to choose between career and fatherhood.

I’ve stopped seeking balance. Instead, I seek fluidity. Sometimes work has to be put in front and sometimes home has to come first…. the key is to have a support network, at home and at work that supports the ebb & flow. Then I am more productive and present.
