Monica Lewinsky: The Price of Shame

Monica Lewinsky: The Price of Shame

Here’s THAT Ted Talk that has everyone either judging or celebrating the return of Monica Lewinsky. I see a woman who is healing her past and claiming her future. What do you think? Please share your thoughts in the comments below……

I think that what happens between 2 consenting adults is nobody else’s business. The people who taped her phone and spreading the story are the ones to be judged as lacking tact, morals and dignity. Shame on them!
A good reminder how much gossip can harm people (and makes you look petty).

(I agree with you elinor) This woman is so strong! The fact that people are so desensitized to a persons suffering and struggles is beyond ridiculous to me, especially to people in the spot light. Our society is more concerned about ‘the person’ and what goes on behind the cameras, that they’ve lost the true meaning as to what this person is trying to express whether its by creating artistic content, informative content, campaigning etc… I mean the fact that this story got so much attention is just plain stupid. Instead of using media to help the president change things of importance or express areas of concern and educate society, it was used to shift the focus and start a conversation about something that was NO ONES BLOODY BUSINESS!
I just don’t understand how people would want to participate in such a disgusting ‘social’ activity- when these embarrassing things happen to celebrities etc. and everyone talks about it, like “have you seen the photo?” or “omg “what do you think about (blank)?” I’m just like why are you wasting your breathe on talking about someone’s PRIVATE issues as though you can have an opinion on it? Just imagine if your issues were discussed with everyone in the world! If someone wants to share their story then great and if not, don’t go digging! Why not talk about the amazing work they’re doing and instead have a positive conversation? Like there are so many areas of importance that no one really discusses when really it’s what we should discuss to feel connected and guided with one another (don’t know if that made sense) For example the positive content you are creating on this website is for people who WANT to share stories and experiences to help others who are going through the same thing or to show issues that people go through that we may not know about, which in turn broadens our minds and makes us compassionate and understanding.

I mean at the end of the day, to me it comes down to the way we are educated; if we are taught to be compassionate (as she said) then the media and the way the public consumes content would be a completely different story.
