1 is 2 Many – Seth Meyers, Steve Carell, and Daniel Craig Speak Out Against Sexual Assault

BY Amanda de Cadenet

Yesterday the White House shared this video featuring Seth Meyers, Steve Carell, Dulé Hill, Daniel Craig, and Benicio del Toro speaking out against sexual assault.

The PSA’s pegged to the White House’s ongoing 1 is 2 many campaign. The President just released new guidelines yesterday that will put pressure on colleges and universities to combat sexual assaults on campus more aggressively.

“Colleges and universities need to face the facts about sexual assault,” Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who also appears in the PSA, said in a statement. “No more turning a blind eye or pretending it doesn’t exist. We need to give victims the support they need, like a confidential place to go, and we need to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

It’s about time that we addressed this ongoing problem and I am so happy to see men speaking up for women .

Not a minute too soon ..
I’d love to hear in the comments below if you think this campaign will be effective and what you think of this initiative .

Wow this is awesome, and funny because on monday I had a conference in my university about how men see men and the stereotypes around manhood by a male teacher who also identifies himself as a feminist which made the whole chat more awesome and I love how the perspective of my male friends change after the conference, they understand me more and why I have a stronger opinion, men need to realize that feminism isn’t just for women, isn’t just a group to belong but a way to live and also, us, girls should educate our sons to respect women, not just empowered women (which its phenomenal) but teach our sons that women have the same right too , I love these campaigns I wish we had ( in Mexico) some of those.

Sounds like a fantastic and effective conference !

While I think this is a wonderful initiative, it still just sucks that men (as the overwhelming majority of perpetrators of sexual violence) have to hear from a man that their behavior is unacceptable. It reinforces the notion that you can ignore a woman, that only a man’s voice truly counts. Still a great PSA and we’re definitely all better off for it.

I completely agree and it is a step in the right direction. I only wish campaigns like these were made more public, they would be more public if they got televised and put on billboards so people couldn’t escape it.

This is all fine and dandy, I’m glad to see people speak up and say that sexual assaults will not be tolerated. HOWEVER….why is it always men on women? There are MEN who get sexually assaulted but maybe are too afraid to speak up about it, WHERE ARE THEIR VOICES?
