Amanda’s Inspired (and Attainable!) Resolutions for 2013

I look at the new year as a time to reset myself and my intentions, and take a small inventory of my life so I can see what needs to stay and what needs to go. I always try to avoid resolution failures caused by unrealistic goals, so here are my personal, doable commitments for next year.

The Five Minute Break
Every single day I will take five minutes for myself, sitting completely still not doing anything.

A Solo Date
I will set aside one hour every week of personal time to be used on something FUN. I will leave my comfort zone and explore life!

Selfless Acts of Giving
At least once per week I will do something for someone else that does not benefit myself, only gives to them.

The Yes Woman
I will make an effort to say “yes” to things I would normally say “no” to, such as going to a movie, a social outing or meeting with a new friend for lunch or coffee.

Listen to Others
I will listen, uninterrupted, to a friend or a child as often as I can.

Get Back to Nature
I will make time to be present in nature, whether it’s in the park, the woods, the beach- anywhere that is unobstructed by manufactured landscapes.

  • Love this and good luck! I don’t really have new year’s resolutions apart from finding my way, I’m getting closer and that’s the most important for me right now on the way of starting my own business. And spend a lot of happy time with my husband.X

    Very sensible, I like it! After a rough year, health wise and otherwise, my main goals: to take care of me (REALLY take care of me, in every sense) live in the moment and as always, do for others. As for your ‘Yes Woman’ goal, next time you’re in New York….My 5yr old and I would love to grab a cup of coffee ( juice ­čśë with you & the twins!

    I have 2 main resolutions this year. I will learn a new skill and refine an old one. Easy and I have a full 12 months to attain them! I think I’ve already decided on my new skill so that’s even more exciting!!!
