Amber Valletta Interviews The Most Beautiful Woman She Knows: Her Grandmother
BY Amber Valletta
As I reflect on who represented my first ideal of beauty I think of my maternal grandmother, Mary Jean. My parents divorced when I was two years old, my mother was quite young with little money so we moved in with my grandparents on their farm outside of Tulsa. I remember my grandmother being kind and very beautiful. She was always dressed in kind of cowgirl glamour and had a Dolly Parton vibe about her, including the fake eye lashes and large breasts. Mary is a natural beauty underneath the makeup and sparkle. She has high cheek bones, green eyes and large eye palettes which is good for eyeshadow… her eyes are what I inherited. She has command over her feminine energy and even now at 83 years old, she still bats her eyelashes at anyone she is need of charming. Apparently, I inherited this trait from her as well, so my husband says. Mary is a woman who will invite you in with that Midwest hospitality and offer you a piece of the BEST homemade apple pie.
She has always believed in taking pleasure in being a woman. Even now, she still puts her “face on” for special occasions or a run into town. Mary Jean has a generous and kind heart which magnifies her natural born assets. My grandma is still my ideal of beauty even now…
