December 11th, 2012

I first met Gabby when I spoke at the WIE conference in 2009. The Conversation was merely an idea and I talked about the need for women supporting each other and creating media that empowered and inspired. Gabby came up to me afterwards and said she wanted to do the same thing, that we should talk and stay in touch, which of course we didn’t. That is until July 2011 when she sat on my couch for an interview I shot for The Conversation. (I will be sharing that later in the month.) Gabby has always shared her experience, strength and hope with me, and I’m super excited that she is sharing her wisdom with us all this month.

If you love Gabby as much as I do and want more of her, she if offering some awesome gifts when you buy her new book here. And, if you’re lucky, she’s hosting live events in a city near you!

What is the most valuable lesson a mother/father/brother/sister has taught you?
The most valuable lesson I learned from my parents was to meditate. When I was sixteen my mother gave me my first mantra and taught me how to access an inner state of peace through meditation. Throughout my life meditation has been my greatest tool for releasing fear and restoring a state of inner peace.

How do you define happiness?
Happiness is when we release the past, detach from the future and fully embrace the present moment. Happiness comes when we remember that we already have everything we thought we needed.

Who is someone you admire?
I admire the Kundalini master, Yogi Bhajan. I honor this man because he left his home and defied his tradition to teach people a technology that would save their lives and support the future. I admire his discipline and dedication to being a teacher of love.

Lipstick or Lipgloss?
I rock lipgloss! I love a bright pink gloss that I can reapply throughout the day.

What would you tell your 14-year old self?
I would tell my 14-year old self: “Hang in there, it may seem tough today but you have a lot to look forward to! Stick around for the miracles.”

What is your personal motto/mantra?
What miracles would you have me perform today?

Who is your style icon?
Isabel Marant

Who or what is your first love?
My first love was my 16-year-old boyfriend. Our relationship was so dramatic… It all seemed so real at the time.

What does spirituality mean to you?
Spirituality is an art. We can create a spiritual connection of our own understanding. This connection comes from opening up to our own unique creative capacity to see beyond our physical site.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Choose love over fear.

What projects are you currently working on?
This month I’m launching my third book, May Cause Miracles: A 40-day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change. I’m so psyched to share this book with the world. I’m also launching my first app! It’s called Spirit Junkie and it’s an alarm clock that posts affirmations on the screen when the alarm goes off. My intention for this app is to help people begin their day with a positive attitude. When we start our day off on the right foot then we can experience much more happiness and flow.
