Born transgender, Yana knew from an early age that people are not just what they look like, and who a person is inside is far more important than their outside appearance. Women come in all different sizes, shapes and colors and we all have our individual stories. Yana refuses to believe that she does not deserve or cannot achieve the same goals as any other woman. She has been a fashion associate editor at Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine, as well as working with iconic stylist Patti Wilson and clients that include Madonna, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and Elizabeth Taylor. Yana has styled shoots and appeared in publications such as Italian Vogue, The New York Times and New York Magazine. Recently she began pursuing her dream of acting, because she believes that the time is right and audiences are ready for something new. She is also working with a producer on a script she has developed. “I believe I have the right to be the woman I choose to be. Every woman does. It’s time we stop letting other people tell us what kind of woman we should be and just be ourselves. Our lives might not be easy but to stay true to yourself and come out at the other side is - what it’s all about!” she says. Read more from Yana on her website yanakamps.com or Twitter @yanakamps.
